Pros
I am a current employee with valet waste, I have been with the company for 2 plus years as a service Valet, and a Lead Valet.. when I started with the company I was told that after 90 day there would be a review, and that there would be the possibility of a raise. I have received neither in the two plus years of employment. the only real benefit to working as a service valet is the work out you will get, I look at it as a paid way to get in shape. when I started the pay was pretty good, what they are paying valets now is a joke, you will not be compensated for anything, you will destroy your truck, burn through a lot of fuel and run the risk of getting injured on the job picking up trash that may contain needles or other sharp objects. I was told early on that there was the possibility of advancement within the company to become a district manager, but now after 2 plus years of employment that is not the case, Senior management does not want to hire from within, they view service valets as only good for picking up trash, I have personally been told by a district manager that valet waste does not want service valets in any position higher than what we currently do, they view us as bottom of the barrel and really only good for picking up trash.I also used to think Being a District manager was an easy job, but after seeing what my manager has to deal with i would never want to work for this company, as a DM you are always on call, you never really get time off, when your valets call off you have to get out and pick up trash yourself, you have to deal with angry tenants on a daily basis, the pay sucks, and the work load can be unbearable. As a service Valet the Turnover is extremely high, in the two plus years I have been with the company I have seen so many people come and go, So in conclusion, if you are looking to work for Valet waste as a service valet I would look at it like this, if you want to save on a gym membership and get paid to work out then I might suggest you sign up, but the wear and tear on your personal vehicle is huge, and also if you have a District manager who really truly cares about you then I would join up. You may ask why am I still with the company after all this negativity I have spewed, well when I started the pay was really good for a part time job, and on top of that I have a really good working relationship with my District manager and she gives me as many hours as i need and tries to help out as much as possible. if she were to quit, I would as well, and probably the majority of her district.
Cons
poor working conditions, terrible pay, ZERO compensation for fuel insurance or wear and tear of your vehicle, Senior Management that cares only about themselves, even though we service valets are the backbone of the company. In Conclusion of this Review, you would think that a company that relies on there valets to do the Grunt work and make this company what it is there would be better pay and better treatment of its valets, but you would be wrong.Senior Management does not care about us one bit, they pay just enough to keep people long enough to get a little working time out of them. I personally think that if this company does not change its ways of treating its hourly employees it will fail.
