Pros

- Nice offices - Flexible work from home - company-paid phone bill & wifi bill - cool product - friendly coworkers

Cons

- You will be expected to work overtime daily. They include this in the offer letter of compensation breakdowns because at a minimum you will be working 1-2 hours overtime per day. - TDRs are treated as disposable assets, in the interview they talk a lot about growth opportunities- these are for a special few. Most TDRs do not make it past a few months. - The TDR role is completely metrics-driven. Even if you are working overtime and doing your absolute best, if you aren't hitting your numbers they will fire you without hesitation. - As a TDR, you will be micromanaged to the extreme, you will be asked to send out daily plans with what you are doing in 15-minute increments. - The territory you are given GREATLY decides your success here. - Training doesn't prepare you at all for the phones. It is also super stressful and your job will be threatened if you don't pass the tests. Reach out to literally ANY part TDR on Linkedin before accepting this role.

Pros

*ESPP for a stock that has performed well the past couple of years *Recognizable name in the infosec industry *Fully stocked kitchen *Solid benefits and 401k match

Cons

***Sales development methodology that is utterly useless at any other company. I've never seen an organization selling into enterprise with a less tactful methodology. Some senior TDRs adopt an account based strategy or are in a role that focuses on it, but training is mostly smile and dial. Hit 150 dials a day plus ~200 during your power dialing session. Minimal time to do any research. Just read off of a script full of loaded questions meant to fear monger the person on the other end of the line into taking a meeting. ***Intense micromanagement. Clock in and clock out from your desk, everything you do is tracked. This is part of the company's sales culture and is not limited to just the TDR team. Every member of the sales team recognizes it. ***Low pay - goes hand in hand with the micromanagement. The process is built to be as simple and repeatable as possible, with minimal deviation, to make employees dispensable. Your earning potential at Varonis is far below other companies in NYC, and takes far longer for you to get there. Your time has a greater return elsewhere. Infosec might seem like a hot industry from the outside, but it doesn't actually generate any money for the company purchasing the product, and Varonis is expensive so it rarely saves money either. Very challenging sell based on fear and "what if"s ***Culture - the average employee is likely a great person, but the management culture creates a toxic environment from the top down. When you see a company fighting to get into Crain's Best Places to Work, and see posts from their Glassdoor account manager visiting the office - you know they're fighting a PR and employee relations battle that is costing them talent.
