Pros

A lot of nice people but many of them left...

Cons

A lot of the employees don't trust each other, silos everywhere and upper management has done very little to actually fix the broken organization. Now they are investing significantly in the Chicago office, which has a lot of talented engineers who do not understand the payments and finance industry -- they see everything as if it was a cell phone. The company was sold off to a private equity firm and when the new management realized they had purchased a lemon, they decided to reduce personnel so they fired a huge number of key people that had years and years of deep process, industry and customer knowledge. The joke around the office was that the new management is trying to make the competition more successful. During the time of Paul Galant as CEO, I was amazed to see the company become so bloated with VP's and Senior Directors who didn't actually do much except collect a paycheck. I don't mean this sarcastically -- it is true ! It is one of the reasons the company was and is such a mess - with so many "leaders" who is actually the Decision maker and who is actually held Accountable? Fingers pointing everywhere. They completely eliminated the performance review process for a few years, which only helped the incompetent. I heard the new management wants to bring this process back, I hope they do and that they use it wisely. Mike Pulley is the new CEO and he is one of the worst demoralizing managers I have seen in my career. Every townhall he held was filled with speeches talking down to the employees as if they were children that misbehaved and needed to be scolded. Not as unprofessional as Paul Galant but definitely not a nice guy. It is very clear that his goal is to position the lemon... err Verifone.. as a nice-looking company with a major R&D center in Chicago , R&D support office in TPE and in China and they want to sell it off as quickly as possible to get Francisco Partner's investment back as quickly as possible. I hope Verifone will recover from this situation, it was a nice company that grew complacent but the management should pay for that mistake, not the employees.

Pros

Great team members and industry with growth potential

Cons

So many cons, it's hard to keep track but here are just the few: -it's a tribal culture here, you will get promotion only if you belong to a privileged group, have family ties with upper management, or a former colleague of executives -they don't like feedback, today even One of the executive publically asked people not to leave negative comments on social media, Not sure what world are they living in. - they have no strategic direction, just following what competition is doing -engineering is week with no real innovation - competent people leaving or already left - salary is lower than market - management don't walk the talk, they have different rules for the staff than what they actually do themselve - only director and above get the equity as the rest don't deserve to be retained per management
