Pros

Good benefits while you are there. Recent stock performance is good, so if it continues you will get a good bonus. The standard health insurance plan is ~ $160 / month, with a deductible of ~ $2k, so its pretty good health insurance.

Cons

Recent stock performance is very good, so the SOC is squeezing margins on the core business to maintain that growth. However, they are not squeezing strategically. No defined development plan for non-actuaries. The bonus & raise pool goes mostly to actuaries, so if you're not an actuary don't plan on raises unless you're getting a promotion. The core business has ongoing outsourcing to offices around the world, 10% layoff recently executed by admin w/o consultation with line managers & directors. Layoffs given by seniority in some cases, and by performance in others, Some departments have a standing happy hour starting at 3 pm once a week. Other departments work overtime as an expectation. The layoffs and the bonus/raise pool affect these teams in the same way despite these workload differences.
