I met some great people there that I hope to work with again in the future

Where to begin. This company has no direction at all. Similar to the Titanic they most likely saw the iceberg but continued to steer right into it! I've never ben a part of a company that was lead by so many gutless individuals, stop beating around the bush and give it to your employees straight, I think they have earned at least that much!
