Pros

Verizon has great benefits like college tuition , health insurance, vacation and personal days. Verizon is also good at employee development and training opportunities for employees

Cons

For the last few years Verizon has been laying off it's management employees and taking away benefits from management employees. Verizon got rid of the management pension plan in 2006 and converted it to a 401K Plan. I retired and was lucky to receive good retirement benefits. This is no longer available to new managers. I think it is still a great place to work for non management employees but if you are thinking about a management job it is not a stable environment because of the layoffs of management employees.

Pros

Well, you get to work for a company that has good name recognition.

Cons

They have a lot of contractors, some of which never make it to the employee stage. My PC IT guy was great, but after five years, they never did him the honor of giving him some semblance of security or benefits. They are tight, and tend to run the company like a mom-and-pop store, with lots of oversight from above. They make a great deal about their customer service rep going the extra mile for customers, but they don't treat their employees the same way.
