      Pros

      The only reason anyone works in the Customer Service Organization at VZW is because they need a paycheck. Besides that the benefits are good I guess. Nothing special about them except they start from day one.

      Cons

      No support from management. Horrible schedules. No chance for promotion outside the customer service organization regardless how far you are willing to move. Unprofessional employees. Annual pay raises suck you are lucky if you get 3.5%. I have been with the company for almost 9 years and not once have they given a cost of living pay increase. They give you performance agreements that 95% of the department finds unattainable.

      Pros

      Great benefits for Associates (free). Many company sponsored courses and workshops for professional development. Many wonderful employees. Great pay for Associates and Management. Union workforce. Free education! Great pay for not so demanding jobs.

      Cons

      Management employees have taken many hits in recent years with the termination of the pension, high cost of benefits, high numbers of lay-offs, low morale, inexperienced senior executives, and the list goes on. While not as strong as it once was, the union is still the best and safest place for a prospective employee. If I knew then what I know now, I would have never gone into management.
