Pros

Strong company where the direction is in the thought process is to increase customer satisfaction. The opportunities are abundant and you can make a difference. The leaders want to do the right thing.

Cons

Even though the company has the righ idea of how to grow, by increase the quality of customer service, the programs they initiate are mostly aimed at increasing profits and not at improving service. The focus that rolls down to the line level employee is all about numbers almost regardless of how it is achieved.

Pros

As most corporate entities, it was a stable check with a very structured schedule. Everyone had a place and went from A to B with consistency and usual reliability.

Cons

No one ever looked at the big picture. The brightest minds in the trenches were completely ignored, even when hundreds of thousands of dollars were on the table: it was corporate policy to protect the norm.

Pros

It is a strong company with an important product that is growing despite a downturned economy. The benefits have been great including $8,000 in tuition assistance. The health care benefits are decent also. The company is very focused on being the best in the industry and rightly avoids union involvement in the company. This is the best thing for both the company and the employees based on results at the competitor AT&T. The company is great for anyone interested in a career and upward mobility, especially if you are young and willing to work hard for it. If you enjoy technology and a strong culture in your employment, Verizon Wireless is a great company.

Cons

Verizon Wireless has over 70,000 employees and many of these employees are young and ambitious. While there are a lot of opportunities to move up in the company, there is naturally a lot of competition. However, some positions are easier to do this than others. Due to a shift towards employee focus and avoiding unionization, human resources have become very lax and have created an almost government or union feel in certain areas that seem to encourage a lack of work. In these areas it is easy to shine and since advancement is not based on experience, everyone has an equal opportunity.
