Pros
- Hours are consistent. They are open 10am-7pm. You will either work a variation of 9-6pm or 10-7pm. - 32- 40 hours each week - It is a commission based job that you don't have to sell your soul to meet your goals. The monthly goals for commission are realistic and easily reached by just doing your job and offering add ons when necessary. It didn't feel like you were forced to upsell. - The managers actually care about their employees and believe the customer is not always right. - You are not punished for making mistakes. Your managers encourage you to get help from them or leads when needed and they are not irritated when you ask for help. - You get discounts for being an employee - Group commission can increase your pay. If all of your coworkers meet commission goals your pay is higher. Usually, we met our goals so it was nice. - A lengthy training period where you do not have to worry about commission. You have at least three months on the floor shadowing and working by yourself before your commission kicks in. However, you still were paid extra those months. - PTO, sick days, and NO POINT SYSTEM
Cons
- The pay could be better. The base pay is $17 an hour. However with commission you make up to $21 or higher an hour. (This might be different now) - An hour unpaid lunch - They wanted us to start pitching credit cards to guests and no one wants it. - They don't allow water on the floor even when you're sick. This seems like a general thing in most jobs but it feels more unprofessional to have to run to the back while working with a customer because you're having a coughing fit. I don't get why it's unprofessional to drink water at work.
