Pros

Great salary for first job out of college, good benefits, excellent learning experience as a college hire. Depending on the atmosphere you could be surrounded by industry experts willing to take you under their wing.

Cons

Constant fear of being outsourced. Being a college hire brought on to a team and then having a round of layoffs fire a veteran on the team creates quite the awkward environment. Then every quarter or 6 months the same thing happens. Outsourcing and repeated, never ending RIFs ruin the work environment. I can only imagine it has gotten worse as wireline was sold off. Getting a promotion is an absolute pain to get approved. I eventually received one and ended up taking an outside offer as they wouldn't match it.
