Pros

Excellent benefits and outstanding corporate culture. Highly structured path to advancement.

Cons

Local culture can be a mixed bag. Have worked in a variety of departments and even in the same location, the culture can be vastly different. Employees are treated like kings in some and beggars in others. In some there is truly open communication and sharing of ideas and in others ideas do not seem to be appreciated and communication is closed. Also, there is little incentive to perform above the minimum. Bonuses are performance based but, once you reach management level, it requires such high level approval to get a high rating that it is discouraging. Raises also do not seem to be performance based. Highly structured path to advancement.

Pros

Verizon is one of the best companies to work for as far as culture, benefits, and overall satisfaction. The company works diligently to incorporate good diversity practices and has a pay structure that, based on market standards, is decent.

Cons

Verizon has a tendency to make employee impacting moves on short notice. Closing centers is one such move. Every other year or so Verizon moves one of its centers by either closing or consolidating. This significantly impacts employees, especially those who are high performers and have a lot of tenure.
