Pros
I have bounced between several departments, and I have been fortunate to work with wonderful people. Two promotions within 4 years so there are opportunities if you are willing to seize the chance.
Cons
Change control, process improvements, and hiring are very slow. HR often does not understand scientific knowledge or technical skills needed. Turn-over in senior positions is slow, so you can only climb the career ladder so high.
