The basic research area produces some really exciting science The pipeline of products is rich and has great potential There are plenty of excellent colleagues The perks are good Vertex makes life-changing therapies for patients

Cons

The company is very isolated from many current standard industry practices Communication is poor within teams and departments; employees have trouble understanding how to meet company needs There is little respect for experience and knowledge; many very basic mistakes occur as a result Lack of direction and focus; a company mission is very hard to identify People are treated as though they are disposable There is a chaotic work environment with much sudden quitting and firing of senior people which makes others understandably nervous
