Pros

Life work balance. The company makes sure you are working at the same time enjoying your life. It really feels like a family environment. Get the work done and we all can have fun. The schedule flexibility is awesome, the policies in place are great. People are encourage to take advantage of the policies. They are not in place just to make the company look good. People do use them and there is no flashback for using them. People actually understand that there is more to life than the job. This makes for a great environment where people actually want to come to work every day.

Cons

The communicaiton among teams and management needs major inprovements. I wish I was told a bit more as to the strategy of the company and the departments. Their still is a difference between Berwyn office and Sarasota. Advice to Senior Management

Pros

A great work life balance is emphasized, and most of the people there are very friendly and easy to get along with. Everyone seems to appreciate one another's work.

Cons

It can sometimes be difficult to effectively communicate with members from other divisions. The actual services and product made by Vertex are also not the most exciting things to work on, so it can be difficult to get excited about work sometimes.

Pros

Used to be a humane company, but is no longer so. Nothing too specific or special to add from the 'Pros' perspective.

Cons

Elimination of certain employees, just to consolidate the operations in a particular part of the world. A bit of mocking about third world countries. During the elimination process, HR is just a mute spectator and the particular scapegoat is at the mercy of the Boss's whims and fancies. The attitude in some cases is bureaucratic, and in other cases, arrogant and humiliating. If one has powers today, they can do anything. No training systems in place to learn the software tools used by the company. People are expected to do self study, and if they are unable to cope - para 1 above applies. You are put under a terminator, harassed, humiliated and made to resign, after building up a case against you.
