Pros

Well balanced KPIs between expectations and realistic ability to deliver. Reliable and professional coworkers, consistent messaging and policy. Good benefits, decent pay. Felt stable...

Cons

Regardless of time in role, value to the company, or anything you've done - you will get fired for no reason at the drop of a hat from some knee jerk decision or some new person coming in and wanting to make a mark. No severance for years with the company with no raise or bonus, no consideration for applying knowledge or skill set anywhere else in the company. Nothing. Just a kick out the door and a good luck. Also, Senior Leadership makes near-sighted decisions instead of being stubborn in their strategy for the long term, at a very high cost to the company. They will not last long with the onslaught of new entrants in the market. Vertex is stuck in their concepts with very old technology with no desire to bring it up to present day competitiveness. They miss the mark badly when trying to understand the broader market than just relationships with Oracle and SAP.
