Pros

Employees enjoy a high degree of autonomy. Reimbursement for certification exams and training. The company continues to grow and develop. Many growth opportunities to lead projects and gain experience. A remote first culture.

Cons

The team is small given the size of the organization.

Pros

Vertex has good pay and 401k contribution (as a FT employee, you don't get benefits as a contractor). There are also some great Employee Resource Groups that initiate important conversations and networking. Leadership is communicative about growth and numbers. Certain teams are very open, understanding, and down-to-earth (but some teams are the opposite). Overall, it's a pretty good place to work, especially considering other organizations out there.

Cons

Lack of communication between teams. Many teams/people don't follow the necessary processes. Many jobs are fire drills, which ultimately leads to a bad outcome since the projects are rushed. Lack of connection between global teams. Promoting people into people manager positions without the proper training. They preach forward-thinking but stick to the status quo of the corporate world with seniority and hierarchy. Since growth is a priority, work/life balance and flexibility are often sacrificed. Many people are leaving within the department because they're doing the job of positions that need to be backfilled.
