Pros

Health care package is excellent and facility has many nice amenities. On-site gym, volleyball courts, basketball court, coffee lounge, cafeteria, etc. The location in Carlsbad is great if you like to be outdoors.

Cons

Cost of living in the area is very high compared to the compensation offered. Many managers are promoted from within the company, which is a good thing from an outsiders perspective, but can be bad if they have no managerial experience. Unfortunately, there is a gulf between the management and the workers that isn't being bridged very well. Many of the workers just show up to work and go home without really interacting with anyone if they can help it. This is all happening despite efforts by the senior management to create a healthy culture.

Pros

ViaSat is a good place to work overall. The culture is very chill, and there is a basketball and beach volleyball court on campus. Plus you get membership to a gym which is next to ViaSat. As for the professional working environment, everyone is very respectful at the meetings. You get to work with some of the smartest people there.

Cons

Sometimes stuff can get a little disorganized.
