      Toxic, sinking ship of a once big tech platform

      Pros

      - Good benefits and salary as part of Rakuten - Interesting work as part of a platform - Insight into interesting markets where Viber is still big

      Cons

      - Future employee beware! Toxic management, plenty of politics - No clear direction, bosses simply push goals downwards to rank and file - Reflected in product development, how many sticker packs can staff push as an 'exciting new feature'? Either engineering has no guts to make strong bets, or lack technical ability to execute, either of which doesn't bode well for the company - Middle managers are 'king' of their own region domain, rampant favoritism - Zero strategy, Viber was expected to consolidate Rakuten's digital assets but is nowhere near that goal years on

      Not demanding you be the best you can be.. Just arrive for work

      Cons

      No Vision/Strategy/Drive... low energy, And just too slow to grow.. Culture is for average people.. and just too much organizational politics
