Pros

Good benefits, decent time off. It's a school job so summers can be light and there are lots of holidays. Kind of like a state job, but with more time off.

Cons

I would not recommend Villanova in its current condition to IT professionals. Recent lay-offs and outsourcing of IT work show that Villanova is working on trimming its IT departments and I wouldn't count on long-term job security for the foreseabile future.

Pros

Benefits/Salary are decent. I work as part of a great team of people in one of the academic science departments, all of my co-workers are great as well. The campus is beautiful. We get approximately 21 paid holiday days each year, on top of 2 weeks personal vacation time, and 1 sick day per month (which accumulates year to year). Plus the academic calendar allows for time off between semesters/over the summer easily.

Cons

One of the biggest shared gripes between employee's is the parking situation on campus. Everyone is assigned parking based on a specific lot to park in, as opposed to Faculty/staff - student parking (which is the way I think it should be). Over breaks and off-semester, sometimes it might be necessary to park closer to your office building than your assigned parking lot - Faculty and staff should not be ticketed while the students are away - but we are if we get caught parked in a lot we are not assigned to. Needs to be more consistent COLI's and merit increases on par with other major universities.

Pros

It is a well-run University. The students are respectful and study hard, collegiality is high, freedom in pursuing your ideas is great.

Cons

I am rather unhappy with the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The overall administrative structure, and with that a lot of wasted resources, has ballooned over the last 30 years
