Pros

Stable and good work/life balance.

Cons

Pay is close to 70% of market. They tell you that it's because your benefits are so great, but the benefits get worse every year and are no better than private sector at this point. Pensions aren't a thing for anybody hired in the last 15 years. No opportunity to move up unless someone dies or retires. Lots of politics. It's really hard to get fired, and many people act like it.
