      Decent pay, relatively low stress job. I like my co-workers, and overall it's a good institution

      Cons

      Within my division sr management is terrible, and has made some very poor hires in upper management.

      Pros

      Tuition remission; academic environment; location; support and lack of 'red tape' that could hinder potential new programs or initiatives.

      Cons

      Lack of advancement; limited recruiting to find the best person for the job. Lack of communication across departments.

      Pros

      Work/life balance is valued and encouraged. With the right boss, you can move your career forward. Generally great coworkers who are easy to work with. VCU is overall an outstanding institution, there is so much happening here and the university is committed to growing and moving forward.

      Cons

      State institution means nothing happens without approval from 50 people. Also leads to complacency and apathy from some employees, which can be frustrating when you're trying to get something done. Raises are few and far between and must be fought for if you are going to get anything besides the state budgeted increases.
