Pros

Government job. Getting hired and promoted is based on who you know and not what you know.

Cons

No way to get raises unless authorized by governor. Governor will occasionally allow 2-3 percent bonus and every 7-10 year a 2 percent raise.

I work with a great staff of people. They appear to be dedicated to the job and possess the team spirit.

Cons

Part-Time employees do not receive annual raises as does the full-time staff. Health insurance is not offered.

Knowledgeable IT staff (currently mostly Sagitec contractors). Sagitec wrote the proprietary code-generator development environment. Pays well.

Cons

Proprietary code generator development environment New to agile and therefore have not adopted the spirit of agile (transparency) Management brings same style of management as Estes Management strongly suggests that attending .NET user group meetings is important Recruiters beware - VRS does not give employee feedback and cancels contracts
