Pros

Personal Touch is an on-campus catering service that takes into consideration the fact that I'm a student and works to prevent conflicts between my work and class schedules. In addition to flexible hours, my coworkers are easy to get along with, and I get paid a reasonable amount of money.

Cons

Really the only downside I can think of is that some events run longer or shorter than anticipated. In other words, though you might be scheduled to work "x" number of hours, you might end up working more or less, depending on the circumstances.

Pros

location is good low stress Blacksburg is a special place to live. Nice mountains and streams. Nice people. Good schools. Etc.

Cons

bureaucracy is not so good low pay There is a lot of crap work to be done from forms to certifications and the like. This gives you less time for teaching and research. The pay is lower than comparable schools and industry. Working here as a professor is a choice of lifestyle over pay. Staff are under valued and appreciated and there are a lot of under performs with state mentality. The very good ones are over worked. So, tough on staff.
