Smart people, good professors, great town

Cons

no cons. get to learn a lot as a student and as a research assistant. good wireless communication graduate program, power electronics program, and good computer engineering graduate program

Pros

It was a state job, had decent benefits and better retirement contributions than my private sector contributions. Technically I had holidays observed by the state off. Was a solid and stable job.

Cons

Health benefits were ok, not as good as what I had in the private sector. I was a researcher so holidays and breaks were often not observed, all major holidays were though. Raises were scarce unless given by the state. Employment is dependent on research grant funding.
