Pros

Good research and nice people. There are many programs and activities to give a complete student experience. Affordable place with multiple dining options.

Cons

Small town with not many activities except hiking or what is organized by Tech (which is still a nice variety). Graduate student end up left alone from the multitude of events organized by (for?) undergrads. As in every institution the experience can vary based on your boss.

Pros

Average experience compared to other research 1 institutions. There is an interesting startup culture, though the university tries very hard to own most of the IP. Work schedule is very lose and extremely easy to deal with.

Cons

Academic atmosphere is old-fashioned. The pay is very low, benefits are few, teaching and advising are practically non-existent.
