Pros

State Job with good benefits that are very comprehensive, flexible/alternate schedules are available, generous paid holidays even after you take into account the winter furlough, and good job security.

Cons

The nature of academics is to be very status-conscious which leads to some coworkers being unintentionally demeaning to people with lesser educational achievements. Very understaffed with a lot of personalities in play.

VT is a great place to study and work. It has the perfect environment for one to concentrate on research, and it also has amazing seasons.

Cons

a little far from major cities. and you don't have many options for flights at the local airport (45 min away).
