Pros
Very little bureaucracy. Can make an immediate impact. Company trusts employees on IT resources. Lots of challenges meant lots opportunity to learn. Some really nice people. Great holiday party. Company seems to genuinely care about its employees. Company is very profitable.
Cons
Company has big visions for its digital products, but does not hire enough engineers to accomplish its vision because it does not see itself as a tech company. It relies on contract developers for a lot of the work, but outsourcing has lots of downsides, including communication barrier, time difference, turn over, slow connection, lack of understanding about how things work. For the onsite employee, this meant long and stressful working conditions. The pay didn't compensate for that.
