Pros

What I miss most about Vivint is the people, very smart and supportive. The business casual atmosphere allowed me to focus on my work. This was the first employer I've ever had that covered our lunch expenses at the company cafeteria. I was fortunate enough to work for good managers. Plus they did provide some valuable training.

Cons

The worst part of Vivint was the layoff, one Monday morning I came to work, and they told me I was laid off. No warning whatsoever. After nearly four years there, to do that is really cruel. I was escorted out, with my stuff, not given time to say goodbye to my teammates. I could understand this treatment if I were being fired for something I did wrong, but that wasn't remotely the case. Apart from that, the other major negative I'll mention is the company's tendency to promote from outside. A small percentage of internal people can be promoted but basically start at the level you want. Working your way up is likely a losing strategy, there's just an overriding belief that people from somewhere else are somehow better. I guess it's a case of 'the devil you don't know' is better than the one you do.
