Pros

Willing to hire anyone with a heartbeat. Commission based so success depends on self-motivation Some sales training

Cons

Working with people who are only looking to exploit you Being constantly contacted by managers on your progress Selling a product that is overpriced and depends entirely on the market of rich homeowners aka- you're selling snake oil

Pros

The pay (but it's solely based on whether you make a sale or not), learned some communication skills, met interesting people

Cons

They basically teach you how to scam people into paying more money than they need to. They come up with scripts that make the customer feel as if they should buy the home security equipment. They don't pay you for training days. How will you pay for transportation or gas, given that you don't have a job, since most people there are high school grads or college students? During the training days, you are in a room full of 30ish people, listening to someone talk for 7 hours, teaching you sales tactics and horrible morals. Someone who has a heart, wouldn't dare try to rob someone of their money. The managers only give you a 10 minute break for lunch which isn't anytime at all to eat or get some fresh air and stretch your legs. Then they want you to come up with at least 30 names and numbers of potential customers who own homes and are at least 30 years old. They ask you to harass your friends parents and stalk previous classmates' (even those you haven't even spoke to, at all in your life) parents. Then to call them around dinner time. No one wants to be bothered after 7pm by an salesman,no matter how good they are. Too long, didn't read: Don't waste your time applying

Pros

I'd say good place to start a career except for the recent, random layoffs. Then management realizes they laid off too many people and are trying to back fill the exact same positions again.

Cons

Upper management is bad, really bad. Expect absurd project requests, tight deadlines, late nights and no recognition no matter how well you deal with all that. Though, depending on the type of developer you are, it can be easy to do nothing and go unnoticed. But the majority are treated pretty badly.
