Pros

The people who work at Volusion are by far the best part of being there. They also keep the place stocked with lots of snacks. As far as the role goes, this job would be acceptable for a recent grad to get some view into very low level of software sales and gain some personal skills.

Cons

Very high turnover because of the hostile environment that is created. In the past few months a medium sized sales floor lost around 10 people which isn't a huge loss to the company as they do not invest in training or retention. Goals are hardly attainable and when sales reps are in risk of not hitting goal the answer to improve is working longer hours instead of coaching. So in the end you will be working around 60 hours for a $500 bonus. The managers they hire are ill experienced and are commonly seen surfing the web or playing on their phones and rarely seen doing one on ones, or even more rare.... having a team meeting. Also, reps are penalized for cancellations that are out of their control which creates a nasty cycle of having to sell to highly unqualified people at a severe discount because in addition to cancels the lead quality is so poor.

Pros

- Casual atmosphere - no real dress code; people aren't stressed out and crazy - Snacks, food, more food, ice cream, bring beer to work on Friday - Lots of opportunities for new ideas and improving services - Coworkers / managers listen and everyone helps each other out. - Good salary and benefits - Company provided tech, flexibility in desk (can move around with laptop)

Cons

- Things can move crazy quick at times, and sometimes you feel the growing pains. Sometimes there's a ton of work to be done. It's definitely not easy, but it's rewarding and a place where you enjoy going in everyday

Pros

Volusion knows the value of its development team and works hard not only to keep them happy, but leave them alone where it counts to do so. Developers are allowed to choose or make their own tools, design their own processes, and make their own schedules. Though software quality takes a back seat to business needs like any company, you do get plenty of chances to do something cool.

Cons

The corporate culture is somewhat conservative in terms of innovation and envelope-pushing, and conversely, the office environment is a little too much on the rambunctious side. Upper management is too involved in day-to-day product direction decisions, especially visual ones, and that slows down the pace of green-field development so it seems glacial sometimes.
