Most of the projects are running on legacy technologies. So, if you are looking for working on cutting edge technologies, no chance. No chance of progress in career, as most of the time you have to work on Support Projects. Development is mainly done by Swedish team, sometime they offload a small fraction of the work. You are lucky if you get a Development Project. Only the people close with the managers get promotions. Onsite opportunities are a very rare event. Only the employees having very good relation with managers gets the onsite training facilities. And in the name of cost cutting management has reduced the travels as minimum as possible. Volvo IT is dependent heavily on 3rd party employees called consultant whom they hire for short term basis from other companies, but most of them work for Volvo IT forever. This results in the project knowledge remains with them and they do not want to share the knowledge. So when you are new to a project it is very hard to gain knowledge about the project. Volvo IT can offer only work life balance not career growth.
