Low Pay, Outsourcing Jobs

Pros

Working remotely is the only thing I can think of. Management seems oblivious to senior devs working second jobs, so I guess that’s a pro if you can pull it off…

Cons

As the title says pay is very low and jobs are being outsourced to India. The code is a complete train wreck. I work on the frontend team which is led by a technical lead that doesn’t know how to run the application locally or even read the code. The show is being run by senior developer titles with junior-level experience.

Pros

Fully remote Starting pay was more than expected for entry level Friendly coworkers Allows overtime without approval before hand, seldom demands it

Cons

Contracts are for public sector, which can be hectic Had some issues with communication for other departments Raise was 3%, even though I was matching or surpassing coworkers that had been there several years

Remote work is great for flexibility

Cons

Constant change with frequent acquisitions and restructuring. Lack of stability and many layoffs over several years. Company culture is unclear due to all of the mergers and acquisitions.
