Pros

Work is challenging and good opportunities to strengthen skills in FW debugging. Lower managers and other engineering staff are very respectful and good to work with. Bonuses are excellent. Technology sharing is encouraged.

Cons

Surprise layoffs and attrition in the past few years have been hurting moral. Hard to be promoted. Code is matured and not much opportunity to do any major code development.

Pros

I have a job a Western Digital

Cons

Bad management. Procurement is not doing any favors, the Materials Management is only thinking about their bonuses. Sales Management sell HDDs that are returns. The overall Management doesn't want to be successfully.

Pros

The paycheck and the location are decent. Pay is biweekly.

Cons

Mentors and teamwork are almost non-existent. This may be due to the fact that there is little mobility in the company. Morale is low, and with little internal mobility this makes things stagnant. Little team attitude, little collaboration. Multiple teams may be working on the same thing without realizing it. Inefficient. For a global company, they seem adverse to the idea of using technology to allow people to work from home or call in to meetings from home. Physical presence in the office is usually required (expected?) for attending global meetings. A single call-in from a conference room with everyone there is usually what's done. This means early mornings and late nights, overall long days. Tired workers. The tools used are extremely outdated, are inefficient and break often. The operating mode is to use people work hours to make up for the inefficiencies in the technology. Everything runs in crisis mode all the time.
