Pros

I was an assistant to an agent and started my career there. Great training ground for entertainment industry - this is a place where you'll learn a lot about how things works and it'll look great on your resume if you decided agenting isn't for you. best of breed organization; If you're lucky, you'll work with some terrific talent

Cons

Very tough working environment -- a lot of the cliches are true. Really depends on who you work for. If you can stick it out for a bit, it'll look very good on your resume and be a strong door opener. That said, there were some dark moments...

Pros

This is known as one of the top places to work in the entertainment industry, so it's a great name to tell your friends and family. Also as a result of this, the other young people slaving away with you there tend to be extremely driven, personable, and intelligent; so the network you gain early on there is very valuable.

Cons

Where to begin.. This company abuses its notoriety as a respectable place to work to force overqualified young professionals to work ridiculous hours (and only get paid as if they work 9-5, it is very frowned upon to enter overtime), in jobs that humiliate, degrade, and constantly belittle them. Much like a fraternity's pledge abuse perpetuates because of the "well it was done to me" mentality, stressed and overworked bosses feel the right to treat hard working assistants like the scum of the earth because that's how they were treated years ago. It's a horrid system that drives out great talent, champions those who subject themselves to years (most of the time at least six) of illegal underpayment, and thrives on a reputation that in no way represents what actually happens at the company.

Pros

Incredible exposure to all facets of the entertainment industry. Ability to shadow industry veterans and learn from them. Great place to make friends if you are new to the city.

Cons

Low salary and some bosses can be very cruel. Choose wisely who you work for.
