Pros

- Compensation can be fair for certain roles, though uneven across the organization - Some employees still care deeply about doing the right thing for customers - A legacy of service that once inspired genuine pride - Flexible hybrid arrangements in some departments

Cons

The organization has been in steady decline since 2023. Frequent workforce reductions have left teams thin, uncertain, and disengaged. With 2026 budgets now set, there are rumors of additional cuts before year-end, repeating the same pattern seen during the 2023 holiday season. Employees are tired. Very few of us feel motivated or connected to the company’s new purpose statement. Most are here for the paycheck and quietly searching for better jobs. Leadership frequently references culture and collaboration, yet the day-to-day experience feels increasingly transactional and detached. Internal messaging consistently emphasizes progress and optimism, but employees rarely see tangible improvement. The result is a growing disconnect between perception and reality. Even initiatives meant to inspire often come across as performative rather than authentic. The culture that once made this organization special has eroded. Politics and fear still shape most decisions, while middle managers lack the authority or support to advocate for their teams.

Pros

Flexible scheduling — as long as you complete 40 hours, you can set your own schedule. Experience with Medicare provider enrollment and healthcare data systems like PECOS.

Cons

Unrealistic workload expectations: Analysts are responsible not only for processing provider enrollment applications but also handling provider updates, correcting both their own and others’ errors, performing QA corrections, and verifying other analysts’ work — all while maintaining strict production goals under threat of job loss. High stress and poor communication: Supervisors frequently interrupt workflow with messages while demanding 100% production. Instructions often change without notice, and answers to procedural questions vary depending on who you ask. Inadequate training: Initial training is far too short for the complexity of the work. Most analysts end up learning on the job with inconsistent support. Toxic internal culture: Some senior staff and unit coordinators are rude or dismissive toward newer employees, rather than being supportive or collaborative. System issues ignored: Frequent outages in systems like PECOS and other platforms significantly impact productivity, yet employees are discouraged from accurately reporting downtime. Low pay for the workload: Starting pay around $20.50/hour is far below industry standards for this role, especially given the workload and stress level. Annual raises are minimal (around 2–5%, or roughly $0.40–$1.00 per hour). Poor benefits: For a health insurance company, the medical, dental, and prescription coverage is surprisingly limited and expensive. PTO accrual is slow, and the policy for releasing PTO time after the anniversary date feels unnecessarily delayed. Overall: If you’re looking to gain experience in provider enrollment or Medicare systems, WPS Health Solutions can offer that exposure. However, the high turnover, lack of consistent leadership, poor communication, and low pay make it a difficult place to stay long-term. The flexible schedule is the main positive, but it doesn’t make up for the overall stress and lack of support.
