Pros

Locally in Kansas City, MO... the management staff takes great interest in every employee's success at the facility even though their hands are very often bound by corporate strings. Through the ups and downs of my tenure, overall, I loved my time at WABTEC and miss working there.

Cons

As in ALL global companies... the employment well being of the lowly employee becomes lost when the industry turns and the bottom line for corporate investors/stock holders drives the retention and/or release of non-value added staff. Just because you have committed yourself to WABTEC unfortunately does not translate to corporate reciprocating your commitment.

typical large corporation benefits are in a surplus and policies support design development. opportunities exist to move from division to division

Cons

career opportunities and developmental growth opportunities are a minimum; the growth of the stock price is the most important goal for the company; research/development and capital development is verbally supported at a corporate level but individual divisions are forced to focus on such immediate returns that best design solutions are never researched and usually lost.

Per diem, travel to crappy places nationwide, sometimes cool work locations, paid holidays after 1 year, financial help getting your class a cdl

Cons

Working in the elements outside year round, horrible management, unskilled office personnel running things. You must be able to get your class a cdl quickly, during your off time, you most likely won't get any practice time.
