Management has little to no respect for employees. Hard to implement positive changes to make the job easier. Hard nose tactics. Management walks around looking for employees talking or other infractions while they ignore the difficulties they face that could be easily remedied. Little to no communication. Most decisions are left to the employee while team leaders are scared to make decisions letting the accountability lie on the employee. Overtime is mandatory and often not necessary. Work load may reflect a need for it but the availability of materials to do the job isn't always there. The decision to work overtime it left to supervisors that receive overtime compensation, which is a conflict of interest. Which explains why overtime is so abundant. It also appears that there is a time lag from work that is completed to new work is available, almost as though it is being dragged out to waste time. Supervisors follow the hand book at their discretion and tend to use favoritism in making decisions. Notification of over time is often last minute but some supervisors expect notification of vacation to well exceed what is written in the handbook, again, at their discretion. Three weeks of vacation is offered at 5 years service but you only get your birthday off at 10 years. There isn't much incentive at that milestone. There is very little recognition for creative thinkers that are eager to make improvements. If fact, good characteristics in employees, such as, eagerness to improve their surroundings, looking for defects in a proactive manner, addressing problems and assisting other employees in preventing or fixing problems, etc. are often ignored and not recognized at all. Almost all employees I have talked to have a negative outlook and are not satisfied with they way they are spoken to and treated in general. Updates to the hand book and/or plant rules always involve in taking something away from the employee instead of protecting or improving the working experience. Management seems to review other plants and make sure they are offering the bare minimum and nothing more. I was told on one occasion that "the only thing we owe you is a pay check". That is not how you get an employee to give you their 100%.
