Sufficient pay and work / life balance if you’re a server.
Pros
The best thing is the lack of responsibility you must contribute. Just do your work to the best of your ability and contribute decent teamwork during your shift and all is fine. Other than holiday black outs it easy to get time off (with notice). There are no lunch breaks but employees can move around at will and take small breaks within reason. This company has gained a lot of regular customers over time who are quite pleasant and can be generous. You are likely to become close to the other staff working in your store. Pay can increase at times due to customer generosity during the holidays, a nearby conference or influx of people into your city, etc.
Cons
If you don’t work you don’t get paid. Managers are worked terribly long hours and days. Cooks are not paid their worth. Holidays must be worked by all employees. Pay subject to changes in economy and weather - if the customers don’t show up, pay suffers. No self expression allowed. Female employees cannot wear so much as clear polish (although dishwashing destroys their nails). Hats or head coverings must be worn at all times so there is no ability to style your hair. Watches and bracelets are prohibited as well. If you are a woman YOU WILL LOOK MATRONLY! First shift is typically the money maker, Second and Third shift employees should be compensated better to offset but are not.
