Pros

Walgreens provides the basics of retail in a reasonable package. You learn how to bust out some freight, merchandise, deal with customers, and handle some cash. Depending on your store manager you will learn more or less. I happen to have worked for some very talented people and so I have learned far more than others in my position. If you take on additional tasks and keep your head down, you will be rewarded. T

Cons

The challenges with WAG are that you often times spend most of your day dealing with freight. I feel as though all WAG stores have an inventory problem and it is difficult to merchandise such a diverse array of goods in small spaces. WAG has made strides to reduce product selection and increase shelf capacity but it is still a far cry from workable. Additionally, we carry crap. Customers buy crap and then return it because it breaks- this drives me nuts. It is a waste of time for all involved, let's charge a little more for a decent product.

Pros

good 401k competitive pay good bonus

Cons

unjustified hour cuts, bad business decissions without any follow up, lack of two-way comunication, using middle management as mouth pieces to pass along "looks good on paper" ideas that do not work in real life instead of using them to help make the job of store level employees more productive and efficient for the customer (where the money and profit comes from).

Pros

Best Pay in industry for retail assistant manager Great Profit Sharing matches 2:1 first 2% of salary 100% guaranteed no vesting. Variety of work, tasks, duties. Feels like you get involved in how to run a business. Upper Management listens, good open door policy.

Cons

Horrible work/life balance Unpredictable hours during a work week, never the same, always changing Under staffing makes daily work more difficult and very stressful Depends on what store you are put in as far as difficulty of job, can be transferred at any time miles away
