Store Manager

Pros

Growing globally, could possibly be a contender to improve the healthcare industry. Gives you insight on how to manage similar to a health care setting. Requires you to be a certified pharmacy tech so that you can fully understand and manage the business.

Cons

Company has been going through structural changes for about 3 years. Often asked not to give information to employees about changing job titles and compensation. Definition of quality work varies from district to district, which causes disengagement of store managers. Company had too many objectives to focus on at one time that it created a lot of confusion for store managers about where to focus attention to grow sales. Working towards efficiency could be difficult at times because of the disconnect between corporate and stores.

Pros

This job is ok.....I tell friends to go back to school! its just enough money to keep you there but not enough to get ahead. I do get weekends off and a set schedule.

Cons

Company doesn't care about the little guy...small raises if any at all some years. No chance for advancement...unless your family is already management or you good friends with HR. Your job here will probably be replace by another DC that is newer and they will pay you less. that how Walgreens works. 13 cent raise this year....and CEO get MILLIONS in a single raise each year....and he does nothing...NEVER SEEN him at the DC EVER IN 10 years. Management is truly terrible and HR is their best friends so.......no one stands up for you. If your not a robot or a kiss butt this isn't the job for you. they don't like anyone with opinions or ideas. they have it all worked out for you and hire and fire all the time.

Pros

You get to work in air conditioning. It a clean place to work. And because they are such greedy bastards you propably do not have to worry about them going out of business.

Cons

You never have to worry about getting any kind of a raise unless you like .15 to .25 cents a year. Do to the greedyness and the restructoring of the comp I now make less then when I started 9 years ago. Dont get me wrong if you dont mind making 7.50 an hour being a cashier its not a bad job. Anything above that you will work your butt off for nothing. I am waiting to take my last vacation of the year and then I'm out of there. You can make more almost anywhere with way less BS.
