Pros

When hired in 05, the starting wage was competitive and there was 4 hours overtime per week guaranteed. STL or shift team lead is not a difficult position. The benefits are decent for a company of this size and it is a nice place to start for someone new to management.

Cons

No overtime. Depending on your market, in some areas you can be written up for unapproved overtime. Lost $5 in pay when forced to step from ASMT to STL. Same responsibilities, same amount of work but the pay cap is now $14. For this hourly wage you can expect to be the only key holder in the store with pharmacy and the front end to attend to. Plus stock the shelves, take care of customer service calls and any problems that may arise. In our area the night STL doesn't usually get the opportunity for lunches as the shift starts at two and after 5 you are on your own. The amount of work and responsibility does not reflect the pay to say the least.

Pros

I agree with the health values the company holds - patient education, immunizations, easy access to certain health tests

Cons

The process is slow to remove a bad egg from a leadership position at the store level, and a continuous feeling of being under-staffed.

Pros

I work in El paso, which is a district that doesn't have many pharmacists. This means, they treat me really well, at least thats why I think they're treating me really well lol. - vacation days and time off is very flexible, my scheduler works really well with me - overtime is available - I know people that have become PIC after just 1 year of work; i dont think im PIC material yet, but when I am, I think it'll happen quickly - Pay is amazinggg. :P - Profit sharing is only available after 1 year of service, but i guess thats a pro. - 10% off walgreens stock up to 25,000 dollars worth per year - I think its the best chain pharmacy to work for.

Cons

- you have to work really really fast, and you can't make any mistakes. this takes practice, and there's no training or tips given to you. You're basically on your own for this. some days are sooooo bad, and i hate my job because there's so many patients to look out for, and you just don't have enough time. - there's no real training at all whatsoever, especially for things like insurance, ordering meds and supplies, patient returning meds, etc. you get your license and they just expect you to know everything, or learn everything without training. - they push this company culture of extraordinary care, and claim they're not like every other pharmacy, but I dont see how they're not. I feel like walgreens treats their patients similarly to that of other pharmacies. they make you say phrases like 'thank you and be well', as if that helps psh.eye roll.
