Poor leadership management

Pros

Decent PTO policy. Individual team supervisors are supportive of upward movement. They are often receptive to requests and suggestions: they encourage individual investigation and presentation of issues and solutions and if appropriate will escalate to discuss with team managers for review of solution implementation.

Cons

Pay incommensurate with local cost of living. C-suite and other leadership make very poor decisions without considering long-term effects. For example, not considering financial effect of merging with a PBM to become ARxWP SP (from Walgreens SP) and subsequently "having to" cut employee hours to make up the shortfall. Opening multiple unnecessary call-centers with poorly / untrained staff resulting in errors requiring very expensive corrections and many, many complaints to insurance plans. These and other poor choices contributed to 50% loss at the beginning of the calendar year, resulting in mass layoffs as of this writing.

Pros

Some really competent people work here. Many opportunities for advancement. Old Post Office office space in the Chicago Loop is really nice (can work there even if based in the Deerfield office). Doctor’s office/gym/pharmacy/physical therapist on site at Deerfield HQ.

Cons

Work life balance was very poor. Company keeps trying to cut costs which means they try to do more with less which leads to people working crazy hours. No bonus payout in 2019, 50% bonus payout in 2020 due to company performance (company wide). It’s tough to stick around when the bonus is inconsistent and there are other companies to work for that are consistent with bonuses. Pay in general is lagging behind the current market (as of beginning of 2022). Old school business model and not sure if the management team in place is the right team to right the ship. Atrocious stock performance over the past couple of years, feels like mgmt is grasping at straws trying to get something to stick
