Pros

My boss was amazing i loved her but they can change the store manager and the pharmacists at anytime. Our store managers got replaced multiple times. scheduling was flexible and i got days off that i wanted most of the time. Also has 2 week unpaid vacations and can use PTO for that.

Cons

Corporate does not care about its employees and likes to throw more work at them without considering how bad customer service has gotten. We were always short staffed and had a million things to do. The changed hours multiple times and now that pharmacies were closing because there are no pharmacists and walgreens fired them all last year. Less hours means 20x more work and longer waiting times for customers. Covid tests both pcr and rapid, covid vaccines about 50 a day, filling rx, typing, helping customers in long lines, daily chores/tasks that have to be completed that same day or we get in trouble, taking long phone calls bc the phone rings non stop and the list goes on. All of this with like 2 people working is horrendous and walgreens should be reported for making its employees go through hell. The pay sucks too! We were a very busy pharmacy as is before covid and they dumped more work on us that we cant handle. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

Pros

Great learning experience for wanting to learn different aspects of retail and business practices. There is something new to learn everyday and working in different positions throughout the store is easily attainable. As a Shift Lead I can assign tasks to CSA's and have somewhat of an opinion for day to day practices. It's great as a first time job or as a first full time job. Benefits are very good and depending on the store, team involvement with holidays and celebrations are fun.

Cons

Certain positions are more highly regarded than others. There can be lots of turnover and seems inevitable that the grunt of the work will be left to longtime employees over new hires. There is a lot to learn and can be overwhelming to some people. Staying in the same position is not advised unless you are in the pharmacy or are okay with making similar pay as new hires. SFL's are in between management and non-management. SFL's do the majority of the work in the store but are no compensated appropriately.

Pros

I have no pros for working at walgreens

Cons

I got sick for two weeks and only called out the days I had a fever. Then they said I was unreliable and said to other employees that I was faking it. I appreciate the people who stood up for me and told them I sounded sick on the phone but no company is worth a panic attack everyday before work (and by “everyday” I mean the 2 days they scheduled me cause they cause my hours in half after I was sick)
