Pros

Paid vacation and benefit options.

Cons

little room for advancement, horrible lazy management, more work than time to finish it.

Walgreens

Pros

Gave a sense of accomplishment, allowed one to "shine" where other positions are obviously meant for "paycheck collectors", plenty to do, kept busy, enough authority over what you do to give feedback, opinions, and make suggestions

Cons

work load can be a great deal depending on the volume of the store, work extremely closely with management team (this can be good or bad depending on whom you work with on a given day), compensation can be minimal when compared with other positions that do not seem to require as much hard work, yet pay more

Good starting point

Pros

They treat the employees of the store operations generally very well. If you need something, the store manager will often help you. Within the store there is room for you to advance and get raises. If you have their benefits with more than 30 hours, they are amazing.

Cons

If you average less than 30 hours a week for even one month, even by a 0.1 hour, you will automatically lose your benefits. The only real money to be made in comparison with some other retail chains is if you are a pharmacy technician or pharmacist . After 4 and a half years of service, I am only slightly over $10 an hour. If you not want to be in management or pharmacy, Walgreens does not reward you for your work as much as other retailers do like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or Costco.
