Pros

depending on what your manager is like, many employees find it not too structured and are not micro managed. Basically anyone and I mean ANYONE can get hired at wal mart. They will hire people with handicaps and are very flexible with people who have physical limitations. Also its very difficult to get fired.

Cons

Some managers are good, some are awful. The pay is extremely low I don't know how people can live on that much. I worked the night shift which is the highest pay at $13/hr, day people make $9.50 - $11. They say there are great opportunities for growth in the company, there is but the pay is still terrible. Being promoted to a department manager is about a $0.40 pay raise for 10 times the work. My new job pays more than an actual manager as they make about $45,000, according to this site. And my workload is about the same.

Pros

You still get paid, regardless of if you make any sales or not. Moreover, no pressure in sales, you do your 8 hours shift and get to go home, no headache there. It's all about providing exceptional customer service and keeping the vicinity clean and follow the managements instructions.

Cons

Underpaid, opticians are worth more. lots think (esp management) that all opticians do is really fix broken eyeglasses. But there is much more to it. Anyhow, if you are ambitious this may not be the job for you. Chances for advancement are slim. If you know people from within, the least you could make it a store manager's level. But there is a high level of bureaucracy.
