Pros

The job security is great right now. The benefits and pay, while not the best, are quite fair for a company willing to hire people with no experience and low education. If you have drive, it's very easy to work your way into management within the company.

Cons

Some entry-level positions are grossly under-paid. It's retail, so you can expect to work some holidays, weekends, etc. Black Friday is pretty much a given for 98% of the employees. Some positions have set hours, but others can have you working any time of day.

Pros

The best reasons that I could come up with to work at a Wal-Mart store is that it's a paying job, offers an employee discount program, and can allow for some flexibility in scheduling if you have a family or go to school.

Cons

Incompetent store management and the corporate culture. For example, instead of just handing over money cashiers are trained to pretend to faint if they're being robbed at gun point. Speaking of money, if if you're a cashier and management allows someone to work from your drawer while you're on break, if the drawer comes up short you're still held responsible and could be fired if it's more than $5 I think.

Pros

There is always alot of work because Wal Mart loves to pay vey little to very few, so they are always short handed and you can always get your hours in. Also you only have to do the bare minimum to get paid. I have seen people walk around with the same shopping cart, with the same items in it for an 8 hour shift and still get acknowledged for their "hard work" and "dedication". And though I never did this, it is very easy to steal from the store. I have heard and in one occasion seen an associate take items and even though I told on two of them it took Wal Mart 6 months to fire one of them the other still works there. So its like they promote theft and dishonesty. I know some of these things are actualy bad things to some people these are very good reasons to work for this company.

Cons

Lets see where to start, I worked full time for 2 years and was only given part time benefits. The assistant managers are being paid much more than a cashier but yet they dont know half of what they know, I knew many hourly assosiates left in charge when they didn't feel like coming in that day that did a better job than they did. They hardly ever apriciate your hard work. They pay barely minimum wage I mean come on people they pay their assosiates like they are a mom and pop shop and not a multi million dollar company. Also they dont believe in promoting from within some assistant managers come in from college with very little work experience, yet some have been in the company for 10+ years and can't even get a department manager position. Because at Wal Mart its not about what you know its about who you know and who likes you. Favoritism runs the show and corporate latter. And all this makes most stores have a low moral, most associates are rude to customers, dont care about the company, dont want to work hard, steal when given the first opportunity, and in turn it makes it harder for honest hard working people to stay honest hard working people. Oh yes! one more thing well actually one more thing that is worth saying that is. They never properly train associates its more of a you learn as you go thing, and that goes for every positon, exccept salaried management and even then it not very good training.
