Unfortunately if you’re not a Walser family member or know someone in the family, you’ll get treated different. CEO and CHRO preach their “values” and how they follow them in how they treat employees. I have seen it play out so many times where store managers have to step down because they are so overwhelmed with the pressure and hours, but “work like balance” and “family” is one of the values they speak about. Communication is not a strength of the company either. The organization labels itself as “fast and innovative”. Fast moving? Not really. But they use that definition as a way to cover up that they aren’t strategic enough to use change management to help employees embrace the change coming. They create a ton of change (often causing layoffs or mass quitting because employees don’t feel heard and feel like a number. One day someone is a rockstar and the next day, they are wanting to coach them out the door because the employee expressed some pushback or feedback. The upper management is terrified of GlassDoor.com - Everyone is in a silo, no collaboration and with little to no communication? It’s a recipe for disaster for any employee/culture which is why the executives are so afraid of this site. I have seen half the HR department turnover in all areas, top executives leave, GMs step down because of culture (and they try to cover it up because they don’t want to face the real problem of them not living up to the values they try to use to get you to stay). It’s a culture that rules out of fear, but at least at Thanksgiving time you get a frozen Turkey and ungenuine hug/handshake from the CHRO or CEO. I wish they would really stop trying to cover up where their short comings are. It’s not helping. Please really consider other places if you get an offer from Walser. It’s not worth the stress and favoritism you’ll face.

-Extremely Political. If a manager loves you, you’ll make money. If they’re indifferent about you, you can fight your way to some money, but if they don’t like you, don’t expect to get any good walk ins/inquiries. -Management: Incredibly toxic. Tease customers behind their backs. Talk about customer credit scores with other employees. Talk about employees to other employees. Basically a big high school.
