Pros

Unlimited PTO flexibility in hours for salary employees at corporate.

Cons

They fire good people really fast especially senior leaders. Lost in direction. My boss was gossipy with everyone (me too) and was rewarded. Your accountants are so over worked and skeleton staffing that you end up becoming an accountant to stay a float.

Pros

If you are looking for some industry training and short term employment they can provide that for you.

Cons

Company creates the image of caring for employees through virtue signaling special interest groups and engagement survey. However, You can be demoted or fired at any moment often without explanation. When Covid-19 hit they terminated a large amount of their workforce without thought to the results on the employee. While other auto industry companies were doing reduced hours and one week on one week off plans Walser did mass layoffs. There appeared to be no strategic planning to their decisions only panic. During this time of Covid19 they seem to have been hugely profitable and even purchased an additional dealership in the Chicago area. They have been slow to call back employees and in at least one case rehired new staff at half the pay by reclassifying their job. Upper Management is disconnected from employees and really only care about bottom line. This company used to be so much better. There has been a definite change in focus and company goals. They are expanding in markets by adding dealerships at the cost of employees and moral. If you are single and plan on being there a short time before moving on it may be a good place to build experience. If you are looking for advancement or any type of job security I suggest looking elsewhere.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We always appreciate the opportunity to address these comments directly through conversation and encourage you to contact our Chief Human Resources Officer Sherry Schultz (sshultz@walser.com) at any time. The onset of COVID-19 presented real and critical challenges to Walser and all businesses in our community. Despite this reality, Walser has managed to maintain its status as an essential business to keep our employees working while nearly restoring original staffing levels to nearly that of January 2020; in addition, we've worked hard to ensure restorative pay and scheduling. It is our continual goal to show transparency and alignment on company safety protocols and key business strategies, which is why we've deployed our second annual employee engagement survey in addition to frequent video, email, and text messages from our CEO and senior management team throughout 2020. Despite the difficulties of this pandemic, we continue to stay the course on critical diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives within our company including Women of Walser, Drive With Pride, and Mosaic. We believe that encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work is critical to our core values and we will not compromise on that. We'd love to speak directly with you and highly encourage you to reach out to Sherry anytime. Thank you again for sharing this feedback--employee input, past and present, is how we continue to grow and evolve as leaders and a company.
