Pros

Great people, Great benefits package, pleasant, lively work environment. There is always opportunity to grow and new opportunities to be had for those people who are proactive in seeking out those opportunities.

Cons

Lack of flexibility in schedule (no working from home, no flex hours, etc...). This may vary by department, but my department did not allow for these things. With gas prices on the rise and commute times in Atlanta through the roof, this would be a benefit that would go a long way in keeping employees happy.

Pros

* One of the few companies left with a pension plan. * Work-life balance is generally good. At the location I was at, many people worked out at lunchtime and people were generally out the door before 6pm. * People are generally very nice. * Benefits are outstanding. Four weeks off per year for vacation is generous.

Cons

* Managers were hit or miss. Some were promoted who did not have any desire to manage at all. There was no consistency between managers - not sure if this was due to lack of managerial training classes or not. * No bonuses unless you were an executive. * No stock options for regular employees - this ended a few years ago. * Not a lot of room for growth - my organization was very flat and there was no advancement unless the person directly above you left. * Morale has been low for the past couple of years due to business outlook and cost cutting. * Pay is low compared to other industries.

Pros

Turner is the only large media company in Atlanta and it knows this. According to local lore it is notoriously hard to get in the door at Turner. It had great benefits as far as I could tell and wasnt as stiff and self-important as Viacom or any of the NYC media companies.

Cons

The HR people at Turner are completely incompetent. From recruiting to career management the HR people at Turner have to be the worst in the industry. I think thats the real reason for the "hard to get in the door" reputation. It has a horrible southern/old boys network feel and much of advancement is based on how well you play that game. People tend to get jobs and stay there for years, which I find weird (but that might be a personal issue).
