Pros

Its a place where you can work with your classmates and earn a little extra spending money for the weekend.

Cons

The pay is minimum wage, so don't expect to make much money working little hours while taking a full course schedule.

Pros

Working for a large university in a small town is the best of both worlds, IMHO. Challenging work, interesting environment, and friendly people for the most part. Salary is commensurate with similar positions elsewhere in the state.

Cons

You are still dealing with the same bureaucracies as other state offices and institutions, and at the whims of state funding.
